The Chengdu Furniture Fair has played a crucial role in the growth of Sichuan's furniture industry over the past 13 years. Back in 2000, the scale of Quanyou was just around 100 million yuan, but thanks to the fair’s efforts, it has now grown to billions. Shuanghu and the Pearl of the Palm are prime examples of this progress. Currently, there are over 60 Chengdu-based furniture enterprises with annual revenues exceeding 100 million yuan. "As the largest domestic furniture trade platform in China, the Chengdu Furniture Fair accounts for 70% of Sichuan's furniture sales," noted Rong Yuwei, Secretary General of the Sichuan Furniture Import and Export Chamber of Commerce.
Hosted by the Chengdu Municipal People's Government and the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, the 13th edition of the Chengdu International Furniture Industry Exhibition, along with the 6th Home Furnishing Culture and Arts Festival, took place at the New Century City International Convention and Exhibition Center. With the theme of "Leading Domestic Demand and Sharing the Future," the event drew close to 160,000 professional buyers from across the globe. Over the course of four days, the fair generated on-site sales totaling 10.6 billion yuan. The medium- and long-term economic benefits driven by this exhibition are expected to surpass 48 billion yuan. Against the backdrop of shrinking exports due to the financial crisis and the cooling of domestic first-tier markets, this year's Chengdu Furniture Fair stands out as a remarkable achievement.
A well-known solid wood furniture brand from Chengdu, which has participated in the fair for several years, reported impressive results this year. On the first day alone, their on-site sales exceeded 30 million yuan. Interestingly, a small sofa manufacturer named Lingxiu, which had low expectations, managed to attract over 90 distributors within the first two days—three times their initial target.
Jiang Dan, General Manager of Chengdu New Oriental Exhibition Co., Ltd., emphasized the mutually beneficial relationship between the Chengdu Furniture Fair and the local furniture industry. Thanks to Sichuan's robust furniture foundation, the fair has evolved from a modest regional event covering less than 5,000 square meters to a nationally recognized platform for domestic furniture trade.
This year's fair saw an even broader range of participants, including dealers and agents from regions beyond Sichuan such as Yunnan, Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian, as well as from Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Liaoning, Jilin, and Shenyang. Despite the challenging economic climate of recent years, both businesses and furniture manufacturers have found strong demand in second-, third-, and fourth-tier cities. "Chengdu Furniture Fair, having grown for 13 years, already boasts a rich network of domestic dealers," Jiang Dan explained. Furthermore, this year's fair attracted higher-quality buyers, such as the Guangdong Furniture Chamber of Commerce, which organized delegations of over 800 top-tier dealers from the national first-tier market.
Looking ahead, the fair aims to position itself as the "core growth pole of China's furniture domestic trade." With its expanding influence and increasing quality of participants, the Chengdu Furniture Fair continues to solidify its reputation as a leading platform for the furniture industry.
