In the fourth quarter of 2013, a quality inspection was conducted on 90 batches of lock products manufactured by 90 companies across four provinces and municipalities, including Shanghai, Zhejiang, Shandong, and Guangdong. The inspected items included marble mortise locks, ball locks, bicycle locks, and exterior door locks. These products were tested according to relevant national standards such as GB 21556-2008 "General Technical Conditions for Lock Safety" and QB 1001-2006 "Bicycle Lock."
The tests covered multiple aspects, such as the mutual opening ratio of mortise locks, the extension length of the lock tongue (inclined tongue), the axial and lateral static load of the square tongue, the static pulling force of the knuckle, handle torque, radial and axial static loads, and the anti-dial safety device. For ball locks, the mutual opening ratio, bolt extension length, safety function, and handle torque were assessed. Bicycle locks were evaluated based on key angle retention, anti-knock resistance, static tension of components, and the anti-dial safety device. External door locks were checked for lock tongue extension, two-way locking structure, static tension in various parts, and anti-pull safety features.
The spot check revealed that 10 batches of products failed to meet the required standards. Issues included non-compliance with the mutual opening ratio of marble mortise locks, improper extension length of the lock tongue, insufficient static load capacity, and problems with the handle torque and lock box stability.
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine instructed provincial quality control departments to take necessary actions against the unqualified products and their manufacturers in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
