Many of the coatings on the market today claim to be green, so let's take a look at how to properly identify environmentally friendly coatings.

Key point 1: Buy paint as much as possible to choose a regular sales channel, choose a well-known product. The real green paint must bear the “10-ring” logo issued by the China Environmental Labeling Products Certification Committee, rather than simply trusting the word “international” on the general paint.

Point 2: Look at the surface of the paint. The high-quality colorful paint has a colorless or yellowish protective layer of clear water and is clear. The surface usually has no floats.

Point 3: If there is a pungent smell in the paint, the paint that is not environmentally friendly does not necessarily have a taste, but the paint with the smell is not environmentally friendly. If the paint has severe delamination, the quality is poor; stir gently with a stick, and after the lifting, the paint stays on the stick for a long time, and the coverage is even, indicating that the quality is good; the hand is light, the finer the better. Paint distributors who have no problem use the method of opening the cover to let consumers visualize the environmental protection of the paint.

Point 4: Look carefully at the quality inspection report of the product, paying particular attention to the total organic volatilization (VOC) of the coating. Organic volatiles pose a great hazard to our living environment and ourselves. Toluene, xylene, methyl ethyl ketone, acetate, etc. are all limited, we should try to reduce the amount of these solvents. At present, the national VOC content standard for coatings should not exceed 200 grams per liter, the preferred coating is less than 100 grams per liter, and the environmentally friendly coating is close to zero.

Point 5: Ask about the solvent. Responsible brands limit the use of toxic solvents. Generally speaking, after the coating is dried, its solvent is substantially volatilizable, but this requires a process, especially a room temperature curing coating. If the solvent is toxic, if the user touches for a long time, it will cause harm to human health.

Point 6: Buy paint as much as possible to choose a regular store or building materials supermarket, retail store, choose a well-known environmentally friendly paint brand. The true green paint must bear the “10-ring” logo issued by the China Environmental Labeling Products Certification Committee. It is of course better if it can have more certifications from authoritative organizations.
