Food 3D printer gives the chef a U disk to eat

Imagine eating pasta (a kind of pasta) in a pasta shop, and the shape of the pasta you eat is the same as Batman's. Well, this is 3D printed food. If the collaboration between Italian pasta maker Barilla and the Dutch research organization TNO succeeds, then the provision of 3D printed food in the restaurant will become a reality.

According to the Dutch website Trouw, the two companies are cooperating to develop a fast 3D food printer and the product is positioned in the restaurant market. The diners can design their own food shapes, and then hand the USB device containing the 3D printing design to the chef. The chef can then insert the USB flash drive into the printer and print the food that the customer wants.

The director of the project is Kjeld van Bommel. In an interview with the website, he said: "If you have been married for 25 years and your wife has eaten a rose-shaped pasta on the wedding anniversary, how romantic and pleasant it would be. Ah. And a 3D food printer can make your dreams come true."

He also told the website reporter that the current printer can print 15-20 pieces of pasta in two minutes, which is 10 times faster than it was two years ago. Now, the R&D team is working to increase the printing speed to meet the restaurant's supply.

The British Daily also reported on this project not long ago and pointed out that the project is still in the preliminary design stage and did not make any comments. However, if this kind of 3D food printer prepared for the restaurant is really on the market, then one can imagine that other people will definitely follow suit. Moreover, foods such as pasta, made from tough dough, appear to be the best print.
