Oxford University develops new self-driving car

With the rapid advancement of technology, self-driving cars are no longer just a dream from science fiction films like *Knight Rider*. According to a report from the UK's *Daily Mail* on February 17, Oxford University has developed a new autonomous vehicle that not only improves accuracy and memory but also keeps costs low. What makes this innovation even more impressive is that it uses an Apple iPad as its control interface. The prototype car is based on a Nissan Leaf electric vehicle. Researchers at Oxford equipped the car with small cameras and lasers mounted on its chassis. When the car is in manual mode, these sensors act as the "eyes" of the vehicle, creating a 3D map of the surroundings and storing it on a computer located in the trunk. This allows the car to "remember" previously traveled routes and navigate them autonomously. The driver interacts with the system through an iPad installed on the dashboard, which asks if they want to switch to self-driving mode. Once confirmed, the car takes over completely. The laser under the front bumper scans 13 sectors per second within an 80-degree range, reaching up to 164 feet. It can detect pedestrians, bicycles, and other vehicles. If an obstacle appears, the car automatically slows down and stops safely. Drivers can still regain control by pressing the brake pedal, similar to how cruise control works today. According to researchers at Oxford, the car’s autonomous system is far more accurate than traditional GPS systems. While standard GPS has an error margin of less than an inch, the new system reduces deviation to just a few yards. Additionally, the car doesn’t rely on satellites for location tracking, thanks to its built-in mapping and memory capabilities. Currently, the prototype costs around £5,000, which is much lower than other comparable technologies. However, the team at Oxford believes there is still room for improvement. They aim to bring the cost down to under £100 in the near future, which could revolutionize the industry. Many experts are already impressed and excited about the potential of this breakthrough. Solenoid Diaphragm Metering Pump

As the name suggests, Diaphragm Metering Pump using a special design and processing of flexible diaphragm instead of the piston, under the action of the drive mechanism to achieve reciprocating motion, complete the suction - discharge process. Due to the segregation of the diaphragm, the isolation between the metering fluid and the driving lubrication mechanism is realized in the structure. High-tech structural design and the selection of new materials has greatly improved the service life of the diaphragm, coupled with excellent corrosion resistance of composite materials, diaphragm metering pumps become the main application of fluid measurement pump type.
