Before beginning the installation of your SPC stone plastic lock floor, there are several important prerequisites to ensure the best results. First and foremost, the subfloor must meet specific requirements. The surface must be level, with a slope of less than 3mm over a distance of 1 meter. It’s essential that the subfloor is completely dry, stable, smooth, and free from any debris. Your new SPC floor can be installed directly onto existing cement floors, ceramic tiles, or other flat surfaces like wooden floors, linoleum, or even PVC tiles. However, it’s crucial to avoid installing it on soft flooring materials such as carpets.
To properly install the SPC stone plastic lock floor, you’ll need some basic tools: a tape measure, a cutting machine, a hammer, a knocking block, and glass glue. These tools will help ensure a precise and secure fit during installation.
Now let’s dive into the step-by-step installation process. Begin by starting from one corner of the wall, positioning the side of the board with the tongue facing the wall. Leave a 10mm gap between the edge of the board and the wall. Next, align the second board with the first at an angle, then gently press it forward and lay it flat on the ground. Repeat this process to complete the first row. Be sure to cut the last piece of flooring to the appropriate length, maintaining the 10mm gap from the wall. For the second row, start with leftover pieces from the first row, ensuring they’re longer than 300mm.
Align the tongue edges of the new row with the grooves of the previous row at an angle. Push the board forward and lay it flat. Then, match the short sides of the boards at an angle and fold them together, making sure they form a locking unit. Once the third row is in place, lift the newly installed board slightly—about 30mm—and press it into the previous row, securing it firmly. At this stage, adjust the distance between the floor and the wall to 10mm. Continue this process until the entire floor is installed.
It’s important to note that all SPC stone plastic lock floors should be installed in the groove configuration.
Prior to installation, keep these key points in mind:
First, leave approximately 10mm of expansion space around walls, pipes, and door frames. In larger rooms exceeding 100 square meters (or dimensions greater than 10 meters), additional expansion gaps should be considered. Ensure a minimum gap of 13mm between the bottom of doors and the floor to prevent wear during normal operation.
Second, if you’re working with a cement or ceramic tile surface that may absorb moisture, always lay down a moisture barrier beneath the floor.
Third, once the product arrives at the installation site, store it in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Keep the product unopened for at least 48 hours at room temperature before installation to acclimate it properly.
Fourth, after connecting sections, place heavy objects like bundles of boards on top to stabilize the newly installed area.
Lastly, consider the height clearance required. The lock-type moisture-proof underlayment is 1mm thick, and the finished floor height is 10.5mm, totaling 11.5mm. To accommodate uneven transitions, customers should plan for a 12mm clearance when the cork floor meets other elevated surfaces, including door trims, baseboards, heating covers, and other irregularities.
