**Abstract**
[China Superhard Materials News] On April 16, 2013, a preparatory meeting for the Organizing Committee of the History of China's Superhard Materials Industry was held in Huangshan, Anhui. The event brought together over 100 participants, including representatives from the China Superhard Materials Association and senior industry experts from across the country. Notable speakers at the meeting included Professors Wang Guangzu, Fang Xiaohu, and Shen Dongtong, who shared their insights on the development of the superhard materials sector. The meeting was chaired by Zhu Feng, the chairman of the Superhard Materials Association.
A series of images were shared during the event, showcasing key moments. The project *Fifty Years of China’s Superhard Materials Industry* was one of the central celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the industry. It was initiated and organized by six national industry organizations and research institutions under the United Nations Superhard Materials Association. The conference had three main objectives: to introduce the preparation of the history book, to outline the principles and responsibilities of the organizing committee, and to gather support from industry leaders and experts.
Professor Wang Guangzu provided a detailed overview of the project’s progress. He mentioned that the history would be divided into two parts: *Fifty Years of China’s Superhard Materials Industry* and *Recalling the Past and the Years*. The first expert meeting was held on June 15, 2012, with 18 leaders and experts contributing to the initial plan. A second meeting took place in Zhengzhou on August 27–28, 2012, where more than 50 participants discussed and finalized the structure, timeline, and content of the book.
Professor Fang Xiaohu emphasized the importance of the project as a rare milestone in the industry’s development, calling it a celebration of achievements. He encouraged everyone to contribute their efforts to make the publication a success and expressed deep gratitude to those who had supported the initiative.
Professor Shen Dongtong added that the book should not only highlight past achievements but also reflect the spirit of unity and harmony characteristic of the socialist era. He hoped the work would serve as a guide for future development.
Zhu Feng concluded the meeting by highlighting the remarkable achievements of the Chinese superhard materials industry over the past five decades. He noted that the industry has developed independently and is proud of its accomplishments. The purpose of writing the history was to review past experiences, summarize successes and challenges, and inspire future growth.
The editorial committee was composed of directors, deputy directors, sponsors, and veteran industry members. Key principles for the committee included avoiding overlapping roles between the editorial board and the organizing committee and ensuring that each unit occupied only one position. The main responsibilities of the committee included organizing personnel, securing funding, and coordinating the production process.
The meeting successfully completed all scheduled tasks and marked an important step forward in the preparation of the historic publication.
