Recycling waste paper to produce phenolic resin

Recently, a Japanese paper company has made significant progress by developing an innovative technology that dissolves waste paper in phenol to produce high-quality phenolic resin. This breakthrough could have a major impact on recycling and sustainable material production. According to experts from the Chinese Phenolic Resin Network, phenolic resins are widely used in everyday products such as electrical components, furniture parts, and decorative items. For example, they are commonly found in high-voltage sockets, plastic handles on furniture, and various household goods.

Traditionally, old newspapers and office waste paper have been used as raw materials for producing these resins. However, the cost of using office waste paper is significantly lower—only about half the price of using old newspapers. This makes it a more economical option for manufacturers. With this new technology, companies may be able to further reduce costs and improve efficiency while promoting a greener approach to resource management.
