Newspaper (Reporter Zhu Shijun) The success of Jack Ma has shown the world the immense power of e-commerce. Similarly, Cai Sheng, a man from Zhenjiang, is striving to build an online platform connecting furniture manufacturers with consumers. A graduate of Suzhou University, this entrepreneur is determined to make China’s furniture industry more influential through the internet. “When starting a business, it's important to do good things and know the right people,” Cai Sheng told the reporter when asked about his entrepreneurial journey. His words reflect the challenges he faced early on. He shared that his first entrepreneurial experience began in 2006, when he was admitted to graduate school but chose instead to join a software company in February of that year. Working there, he earned a decent income and saved enough to start his own business. In August 2006, Cai Sheng left the company and founded “Tiansheng Software.” Though the beginning was tough, the company gradually grew. However, by December, one of his partners ran away with his last 120,000 yuan and disappeared. Recalling this painful memory, Cai still looked a bit helpless. “But that same year, I met two kind people—former customers—who helped me get back on my feet,” he said. In November 2007, he launched “Furniture Shopping Network.” “At the time, I didn’t know much about furniture, but I saw a huge market opportunity in the industry, so I took the chance,” he explained. The “Furniture Shopping Network” serves as a platform where furniture dealers can set up online stores to showcase and sell their products, while consumers can browse and choose their favorite furniture, similar to Taobao, but focused solely on furniture. Cai Sheng also revealed that his company has recently launched a payment platform, developed in collaboration with several banks. “It works similarly to Alipay,” he said. During the interview, the reporter noticed that Cai Sheng remains passionate and energetic. “Entrepreneurship requires a strong mindset, but it’s also very exhausting,” he admitted. He explained that running a portal site is expensive, with ongoing costs like R&D, equipment, marketing, and expenses for attending trade shows. Despite the challenges, he continues to push forward, driven by his vision for the future of the furniture industry.
