Cai Sheng strives for his "taobao dream" (photo)

Newspaper (Reporter Zhu Shijun) The success of Jack Ma has made people recognize the power of e-commerce. A Zhenjiang native, Cai Sheng, is also working hard to build a platform connecting furniture manufacturers and consumers. This entrepreneur, who graduated from Suzhou University years ago, is striving to make China's furniture industry more influential online. "When starting a business, it's important to do good deeds and know the right people," Cai Sheng told the reporter when asked about his entrepreneurial journey. His experience led him to believe in this philosophy. He shared that his first entrepreneurial step began in 2006, when he was admitted to graduate school but instead chose to work at a software company. "I didn’t go to study, but started my first business in February of that year," he said. Working at the company, he earned a decent income and saved up for his next venture. In August 2006, he left the company to start his own business called "Tiansheng Software." Though the early days were tough, the company gradually grew. However, by December, one of his partners stole his only 120,000 yuan and disappeared. Recalling that painful time, Cai still felt a bit helpless. "But it was also that year that I met two kind people—former customers—who helped me get back on my feet," he said. In November 2007, he launched "Furniture Shopping Network." "At the time, I didn't know much about furniture, but I saw a huge market opportunity in the industry, so I decided to take the chance," he explained. The "Furniture Shopping Network" is a platform that brings together information about the furniture market and allows brands to sell their products online. "Furniture dealers can open stores on our website to showcase and sell their products, while consumers can browse and choose their favorite furniture, similar to Taobao, but focused solely on furniture," Cai explained. Cai also mentioned that his company recently launched a payment platform in collaboration with several banks, operating on a model similar to Alipay. During the interview, the reporter noticed that Cai remained passionate and energetic. "Entrepreneurship requires a strong mindset, but it's also very exhausting," he admitted. He added that running a portal site is costly, with expenses including R&D, equipment, marketing, and travel to exhibitions. "It's not easy, but I believe in what I'm doing," he said with a determined smile. (Word count: 510)
