The weather outside was chilly, while the indoor temperature was extremely high. On the early morning of February 15th, thousands of job seekers from all over the region flooded into the E and F exhibition halls of the Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center, which covered more than 10,000 square meters, to attend the large-scale spring recruitment fair for college graduates in Henan Province in 2014. This event was one of the most significant employment gatherings of the year, drawing a record number of participants.
According to official statistics, a total of 69,000 people attended the job fair on that day, setting a new single-day attendance record for Henan's recruitment events. Organized by the Provincial Department of Civil Affairs and hosted by the Provincial Talent Exchange Center, the fair attracted nearly 700 major enterprises, including Yutong Bus, Sanquan Food, Huanghe Cyclone, Shuanghui Investment, Yinge Investment, Rebecca Hair Products, Yanai Shares, I Wish You Zaoye, Xinfei Electric, and others. A total of over 40,000 job positions were available, covering more than 170 different fields such as marketing, civil engineering, mechanical manufacturing, electrical automation, international trade, and biotechnology.
At 9 a.m., when the reporter arrived at the venue, it was already packed with job seekers. Mr. Qiao, a manager from Henan Huanghe Cyclone Co., Ltd., shared that the company is urgently seeking talents in scientific and technological innovation, particularly in areas like superhard materials, metal powders, and mechatronics. Xiao Yang, a graduate from Shaanxi Industrial Vocational and Technical College, confidently said, "With a well-prepared resume, there are so many opportunities here. I believe I can find a good job."
The fair was organized into distinct sections based on the industries of the employers, including manufacturing, information technology, construction, FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods), finance, culture, e-commerce, logistics, healthcare, new energy, services, and local districts. This helped job seekers quickly connect with potential employers. Additionally, the event partnered with the Henan Daily Newspaper Group to distribute 100,000 free copies of the "Dahe Fast Reading" recruitment edition, which received widespread praise.
Liu Wenhai, director of the Provincial Talent Exchange Center, noted that the majority of job demand came from four key sectors: real estate and construction-related industries, such as architecture, decoration, building materials, roads, and bridges; manufacturing sectors including machinery, automobiles, home appliances, and electrical equipment; the medical and pharmaceutical industries, including biotech and healthcare; and the fast-moving consumer goods industry, covering food, beverages, personal care products, and gifts. These four sectors accounted for approximately 40% of the total number of participating companies.
