The implementation of this project marks another step in the development of a tower-type solar thermal energy storage system with independent intellectual property rights in China, which is of great significance for the large-scale promotion of solar thermal power generation in Qinghai and its surrounding areas.

This breakthrough in science and technology came from the Qinghai Province Science and Technology Department organized the implementation of the Qinghai major science and technology project "High-temperature thermal storage technology and equipment development of solar thermal power generation" and "the development of key technologies for the megawatt-class solar thermal power absorber." At present, scientific research projects have passed acceptance, and the scientific research results have reached the leading level in the country.

It is understood that after nearly 4 years of research and development, the project has passed the joint research with the research team outside the province to overcome the development of high-temperature thermal storage technology and equipment for solar thermal power generation, and it has also been used in a 10 MW solar thermal power station at Delingha. On the basis of the successful development of a tower-type photothermal molten salt heat storage system, effective heat storage time of more than two hours, within 24 hours of molten salt tank cooling does not exceed 10 degrees Celsius, to achieve a single set of total capacity of 5 MWh in the high temperature melting The normal operation of the salt heat storage system has become China's first solar thermal power station with molten salt heat storage.
