How to properly apply base fertilizer to vegetables

The production of pollution-free vegetables, the base fertilizer should be based on organic fertilizer, mixed with appropriate amount of fertilizer. The amount of base fertilizer applied should account for more than 70% of the total fertilization amount of the crop. Among them, organic fertilizers such as plant residue fertilizer or soil fertilizer, mineral phosphorus fertilizer and grass ash are all used as base fertilizer, and other fertilizers can be partially used as base fertilizer. Special attention should be paid to the following points when determining the variety and quantity of base fertilizer:

1. To prevent the concentration of fertilizer from becoming an obstacle. If excessive fertilizer is used as the base fertilizer, it can cause local high concentration fertilizer barrier. The organic fertilizer is slow in effect and has a large cushioning property, and even if it is applied in a large amount, concentration disorders rarely occur. Therefore, when the total amount of vegetable base fertilizer is insufficient, it can only be satisfied by increasing the amount of organic fertilizer.

2. Use less nitrate and ammonium nitride. Vegetables are hi nitrate nitrogen crops, but nitrate fertilizers are not easily absorbed by the soil and are easily leached by rain or irrigation. Therefore, it is not suitable for a large amount of base fertilizer; ammonium nitride fertilizer is applied too much, and serious fertility disorders will occur. Leaf yellowing or shrinkage occurs. At the same time, it will also affect the absorption of calcium and magnesium fertilizer by crops, and it should not be used as a base fertilizer. Therefore, it should be better to use amide nitrogen fertilizer (urea). Among the nitrogen fertilizers, 70% of the nitrogen supplied to the crops is used as the base fertilizer, and 30% is used as the top dressing. In the 30% nitrogen fertilizer for topdressing, fertilizer should account for 3/5. Organic nitrogen fertilizers such as human feces and urine are used only in the early stage of planting of vegetable crops.

3. Phosphate fertilizer should be used as the base fertilizer. In general, the absorption of phosphate fertilizer by vegetables is 25 to 30 when nitrogen is 100. The key period for the need for phosphate fertilizer in the growth of vegetables is in the early stage of fertility. If the phosphate fertilizer is insufficient in the seedling stage, the yield will be reduced even if a large amount of phosphate fertilizer is applied in the later stage. Therefore, phosphate fertilizer is generally used as the base fertilizer. (Chen Maochun)
