High tower granulation technology to create a new era of compound fertilizer

A new type of compound fertilizer with uniform and smooth particles, with molten pores and no caking. Although the price per ton is more than 100 yuan higher than that of ordinary fertilizer, it is particularly popular among farmers. What gives the charm of this fertilizer is the high-tower melt granulation compound fertilizer technology pioneered by Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry.
This advanced compound fertilizer technology with independent intellectual property rights has been launched in the domestic fertilizer industry since it was applied and built the first set of 100,000 tons of equipment in Shandong Stanley Company more than a year ago. At present, more than a dozen companies across the country have used this technology to build production lines, and the compound fertilizer produced has become the market darling.

The world-class high-tower granulation device, which was successfully developed by Shanghai Chemical Research Institute after 8 years, has shortened the gap between China's compound fertilizer technology and foreign advanced level. According to Zhu Dongming, director of the Institute of Fertilizer Research, which is chaired by the technology development, the technology is characterized by high product quality, low operating costs, low energy consumption, no pollution, easy operation, and the production of compound fertilizer regardless of appearance or intrinsic quality and crops. The increase in production is far superior to the ordinary compound fertilizer sold on the market. Nowadays, the competitiveness of chemical fertilizer enterprises that have introduced the high-tower granulation technology of Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry has increased greatly, and the products produced have both made a lot of money and sold well. However, just a few years ago, this high-quality compound fertilizer sold in the domestic market was all imported from Norway, Finland and other countries.

In this regard, the researchers of the Shanghai Institute of Fertilizers are very anxious: as a big agricultural country, we can not let the market monopolize the monopoly of foreign companies! The Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry, which once gave birth to China's first set of synthetic ammonia plants, dared to make a hard bone. In order to integrate China's compound fertilizer production with the world's advanced level, they aimed at the development of high-concentration, but advanced technology, high-concentration urea-based compound fertilizer. To this end, the hospital has invested more than 10 million yuan in research and development, and is bent on producing fertilizer technology that is truly developed by the Chinese themselves.

In China, urea is the most important source of nitrogen fertilizer in fertilizers. Urea-based NPK ternary compound fertilizer has received increasing attention. However, due to the low melting point of urea, the critical relative humidity of urea-containing fertilizers is low. Therefore, the melt granulation process without a drying system is particularly attractive for the production of urea-based compound fertilizers. Researchers believe that if the process can be applied in the production of urea-based compound fertilizer, it will become a promising new compound fertilizer technology. The key point of the melt-based urea-based high-concentration compound fertilizer technology lies in the preparation of the ternary melt slurry and the spraying granulation process and key equipment development of the slurry.

Through a large number of experimental studies, Zhu Dongming mastered the optimized process conditions for the preparation of melt slurry, and obtained round and smooth ternary compound fertilizer particles in the laboratory, which made the technology take shape. After 8 years of research and development, the key link of the melt-based urea-based high-concentration compound fertilizer technology was overcome. On November 18, 2004, China's first melt tower-type high-concentration urea-based compound fertilizer plant was completed and put into operation.

Compared with the conventional compound fertilizer process, its unique advantages are: direct use of urea concentrated solution, no need for spray granulation process of urea solution and crushing operation of solid urea compound fertilizer, simplifying the process flow; making full use of the original The heat energy of urea has low moisture content, no need for drying, and great energy consumption. It can produce high-nitrogen compound fertilizer with high content of particles and smooth surface, which is not easy to agglomerate. At the same time, the process has no “three wastes” emissions, and the investment and operating costs are lower than conventional solid ingredient steam granulators, especially for large-scale installations.

The promotion and application of high-tower granulation technology has made China's compound fertilizer production leap to a new level.
