EU Announces Implementation Regulations for Air Conditioning New Energy Labels

Recently, the European Union officially announced in the official gazette the Air Conditioning New Energy Labeling Regulations (EU) No 626/2011. From January 1, 2013, the new regulations will replace the original air conditioning energy labeling directive 2002/31/EC. After the date of the air conditioning into the EU market must meet the requirements of the new regulations.

The regulation specifies the level of energy efficiency of air conditioners, energy labeling and implementation process, responsibilities of suppliers and distributors, measurement and calculation, and verification procedures in market supervision.

The new regulations are the fifth implementing regulations after refrigerators, televisions, household washing machines and household dishwashers. With the EU’s increase in energy consumption and environmental protection requirements for air-conditioner and other mechanical and electrical products, the export situation of domestic enterprises’ products will be more severe, and their production costs will also be greatly increased. Related air-conditioning companies will be affected far-reachingly.

The inspection and quarantine department reminded the majority of air-conditioning manufacturers that although the date of implementation of the regulations was still early, enterprises must begin to switch production awareness so that they can respond in a timely manner.
