Epoxy will no longer compete for the same "runway"

"Eleventh Five-Year Plan" is a five-year development of China's epoxy resin industry booming and quality double rise. During this period, China became the largest producer and seller of epoxy resins in the world. In 2010, the production capacity reached 1.5 million tons and the output was 1.3 million tons. The product quality of large and medium-sized enterprises is generally improved and can be used in the manufacture of high-quality electronic products and aerospace products. For example, Bluestar New Materials' Wuxi Resin Factory's ** products were used by the “Shenzhou” and “Shuyu” projects, and Dalian Qihua Chemical Company became a stable supplier for multinational companies.

However, there are also some issues worth reflecting on during this period. Looking ahead to the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, the epoxy resin industry will strive to overcome the following bottlenecks while consolidating and expanding the results.

First of all, China has become the world's largest producer and seller of industrial products. Although it is the result of the vigorous development of “Made in China”, it also has the effect of foreign companies transferring basic resins and specializing in adding resins. Adding resin production is not only zero pollution, but also the product performance is better and the selling price is higher. At present, the products of China's epoxy resin companies are still basically based on the basic resin, the market competition is fierce, the profit space is shrinking, and the industrial structure adjustment remains stagnant. However, foreign manufacturers have just used this opportunity to use China as a base resin supply base and continue to expand the production capacity of added resins. This not only avoids environmental risks, but also earns profits. Therefore, how to reduce the pollution in the production process of base resins, open up the market for adding resins, and increase the added value of products are important issues facing the entire industry.

Second, systemization needs to be put on the agenda. At present, multinational companies no longer supply resin products in a single package, but instead provide mixed-form materials to provide system services based on customer needs. Such blends include resins, curing agents, thinners, and additives. This will not only create product chain advantages, consolidate markets, but also fully expand profit margins. The specially developed product varieties are highly targeted and performance-specific, and can better adapt to customer needs, resulting in higher profitability and higher customer loyalty.

Thirdly, in view of the fact that domestic epoxy resin production capacity is developing too fast and the development of basic curing agent devices is too slow and the supporting capacity is insufficient, attention should be paid to the coordinated development of epoxy resins, curing agents, additives, and raw materials, and the strengthening of special epoxy resins. Research and development, at the same time, must strengthen information exchange and avoid blind or repeated projects.

The demand for epoxy resin in China is still growing rapidly, and it is predicted that the annual consumption will soon reach 1.5 million tons. At present, the operating rate of some devices is relatively low, which is largely related to the irrational product structure in China. Therefore, we can no longer compete on the same runway and engage in vicious competition as before. It is necessary to consider the level of development from many aspects such as variety, quality and craftsmanship.
